At the start of November, Sutherland’s of Portsoy joined forces with The Rowett Institute to create a number of healthy recipes to deliver with their grocery boxes, designed to help support those customers that are looking for an all-encompassing and healthy home delivery service during the Covid-19 crisis and beyond.
Following on from that initial success, the firm have just launched their new online platform to enable customers in Scotland, across the UK, Europe and the wider world to access their full range of healthy products. The team are not just focussing on quality and range but are also looking at the issues of health and wellbeing. When you browse its content, you discover they have given significant health pointers as to the benefits of not just eating their products but the species themselves.
Having established this theme within the online platform they want to take this a step further with collaborations and recipes demonstrations. As a food producer, they have identified they have a social and moral responsibility to provide the consumer with as much information as possible, so that informed choices can be made.
They also see packaging as a huge area they can improve on and are totally focused on creating greener packaging for their products. In the past like all other fish producers and suppliers they used EPS – a product which can’t be recycled and is damaging to the environment. They have developed, with a sister company IBoxit, a green packaging system which is totally recyclable and biodegradable. They are about to launch this ground-breaking system. They have also been working with the UEA to create an anti-microbial spray which is naturally formed and nonharmful to product or consumer. The addition of this will increase shelf life and kill all bacteria.
